Barcelona
Barcelona, a mediterranean city rich in tradition and identity, is one of the world’s most visited cities thanks to its unique lifestyle. It stands out not only for its great tourist offerings, but also for the cultural and artistic activities one breathes in its streets, buildings and monuments.
Fashion House B&B Guesthouse sits center stage in this vivid cultural sphere, allowing travellers to venture easily to the nearby museums and galleries that proudly show their artists.
Not to be missed are the “Picasso Museum”, the “Joan Miró Foundation” and the “MACBA” which exposes the restless contemporary art scene. At the same time, taking the building that hosts the Bed & Breakfast Guest House as a starting point, we can recommend an itinerary through “Modernist Barcelona,” in which Gaudi’s and other catalan artists’ urban landscape show the architectonic personality of the city. “La Pedrera” or “Casa Battló” are two wonderful examples of this exquisite patrimony.
The historical center of the city is the “Barrio Gótico,” a characteristic neighborhood just a few meters away from Fashion House B&B Guesthouse. Here, the history of the ancient roman and medieval city contrasts with contemporary Barcelona. An emblem of the neighborhood is the “Cathedral,” a vivid example of catalan gothic architecture. So are the various squares, like the neoclassical “Plaza Real”, on the side of the always busy “Rambla del las Flors,”- better known as “Las Ramblas,”- or “Plaza Sant Jaume,” where “City Hall” and the “Generalitat” of Cataluña buildings are located, or “Plaza del Rey,” with its group of medieval buildings, like the History Museum of the City. The narrow streets of Barrio Gótico invite the traveller to discover both the art of its past and the originality of its present. Another interesting and multicultural way to get to know Barcelona is by entering the attractive “Barrio del Raval.” Dynamic and cosmopolitan, it not only hosts art’s workshops, galleries, museums and libraries, but also offers a varied choice of cafes, restaurants, bars and funky second hand shops that you will not find anywhere else. From Fashion House Bed and Breakfast Guesthouse, “Raval” is just a short distance away and can easily be reached on foot.
A 15 minute walk from Fashion House B&B Guest House brings you to one of Barcelona’s main attractions: the beach and the neighborhood of “Barceloneta”. It offers something for people of all kinds. Here the traveller can sample some of the best sea food in the region in a warm and groovy seaside atmosphere. Moreover, it features fun family offerings such as “L’aquarium Barcelona,” (the biggest in Europe), or the “Montjuïc Cable Car,” from which you can enjoy one of the most breathtaking views of the city.
Bohemian Barcelona reveals itself in the “Barrio de Gracia”. An independent village of the end of the 19th century, it has been able to incorporate the city while keeping its peculiar “popular” touch even today. This neighborhood characterizes itself for its artistic and traditional atmosphere, attracting people to its numerous open air cafes, bars and restaurants occupying squares like “Plaza del Sol” or “Plaza de La Virreina.” “El Barrio de Gracia” is at about 20 minutes away walking from Fashion House Bed and Breakfast Guesthouse.
Gaudi’s “Park Güell”, a few subway stops from Fashion House B&B Guest House is a wonderful place to visit. Unique in its gender thanks to its spectacular ornamental creation, “Park Güell” is considered as a monumental complex in which the natural environment is inseparable from the architectural elements which are rich in political and religious symbolism.
Another interesting part of the city is the “Montjuïc Park.” From this impressive hill, one can admire the history and personality of Barcelona. Transformed by two important events, “The 1929 Universal Exposition” and the “Olympic Games of 1992,” the mountain of Montjuïc gave birth to museums, like the “Miró Foundation,” “The Caixa Forum” and “The National Museum Of Art of Catalunya (MNAC)” and a large area of gardens, other cultural and sport structures. From Fashion House Bed and Breakfast Guesthouse, it is possible to reach Montjuïc by subway or bus.
Barcelona is a wonderful city that offers a wide variety of attractions for people from around the world. Its our ambition to promote the city’s originality, helping our guests to enjoy its museums, beaches, parks, transports, fine dining and other activities that will ultimately make their stay a truly incredible experience.
